Abstract:
Jun Zi (Virtuous man)" and "Xiao Ren (Common fellow)" often appear in contrast in the same chapter in The Analects of Confucius. The Virtuous man 's behavior is generally positive, while the common fellow 's behavior negative. The Chinese word "Xing" in "Jun Zi Huai Xing" means "law, penalty", while the word "Hui" in "Xiao Ren Huai Hui" means "wit, craft". Therefore, the sentence "Jun Zi Huai Xing, Xiao Ren Huai Hui" in Li Ren The Analects of Confucius means "the virtuous man thinks of the sanctions of law, while the common fellow thinks of the craft to escape penalty for his own favors".
Key words:  Jun Zi (virtuous man)  Xiao Ren (common fellow)  thinks of law  thinks of craft
