Abstract: |
The western study of image is based on the process of imagination, which is determined by the tradition of reason. It is the reason's involvement which weakens the emotion contained in image and makes image an objective picture. The imagism which is represented by Pound in the early 20th century is deeply influenced by Chinese classical poems. However, the imaginary theory of imagism yet belongs to western tradition in nature and emphasizes the effects of picture and the meaning of symbol. |
