神秘主义,或理性的悖论?——评切斯特顿的《异教徒》和《回到正统》

摘要:
切斯特顿在《异教徒》中归纳了基督教的四种神秘美德——爱、望、信和谦卑,并由此批判了各种自寻死路的现代理性。在《回到正统》中,他进一步描绘了基督教信仰的悖论本质,并指出基督教神秘主义是捍卫人类理性,使其不致失常、自我毁灭的保障。然而,黑格尔并不认可高超于理性之上的宗教神秘主义,他以思辨真理的正反两方面规定的统一来看待一切思维和事物。左翼思想家齐泽克正是从黑格尔的角度反驳了切斯特顿的神秘主义,揭示了宗教信仰同样难逃自我否定的悖论。

Mysticism, or Rational Paradox?——On Chesterton 's Heretics and Orthodoxy

Abstract:
In Heretics, Chesterton summarizes four Christian mysterious virtues of love, hope, belief and humility, and thus criticizes a variety of self-contradictory modern rational thoughts. In orthodoxy, he continues to depict the paradox essentially of the Christian faith, and pointes out that Christian mysticism protects human reason from being mad and self-destructive. However, Hegel does not agree that religious mysticism is beyond human reason. he looks at all ideas and things from speculative logic which unifies positive and negative aspects. The left-wing thinker iek criticizes Chesterton 's mysticism from Hegel 's viewpoint, revealing the same self-denial paradox of Christian faith.
