On the Modern Transformation of Traditional Chinese Translation Theories from the Perspective of Contemporary Translation Studies
CHUN Liu, WANG Shuting
(College of Arts, China University of Petroleum, Qingdao, Shandong 266580, China)
Abstract:
The thesis firstly points out the tendency of underestimating theory as well as analyzes the causes of this tendency in the domestic translation field. Then, through a brief review of arguments on translatology in recent decades it tries to point out that translation theories with Chinese characteristics should be established. And encouraged by the current achievements in translation studies home and abroad the author is determined to carry out a further study on the traditional Chinese translation theory with contrastive analyses, including its definition, historical periods and the characteristics. Nowadays, some translators together with some translation theorists have started to realize that TCTT must involve itself in the current movement of modern transformation actively in order to play an important role in the global translation studies. Through consulting the current researches in the modern transformation of TCTT the thesis distinguishes two concepts of transformation:visible transformation and invisible transformation at different stages. Meanwhile, suggestions about the means of transformation are also summarized in the thesis. Finally, the author hopes this thesis could make some contributions to the contemporary translation studies.
