Abstract:
The Belt and Road Initiative, as a global top-level design for building a community of shared future among cooperative countries, has a significant impact on China 's economic development and energy trade. Based on the energy consumption data of 13 cities along the Belt and Road from 2005 to 2019, this paper explores the overall impacts of multiple factors on energy consumption by constructing a two-way fixed effect model. The results show that FDI, R&D, economic level, trade volume and industrial structure have a strikingly positive impact on total energy consumption with the economic level the most. The relevant policy, population size and urbanization have a negative impact on total energy consumption while the population size has the greatest inhibitory effect on energy consumption.
