Abstract:
The observation of the real picture of the Western views of China is inseparable from a certain historical domain in need of seeking logic from the historical evolution. In light of the relationship between the self and the other based on cultural imagination, the Western views of China have undergone the processes of "the other as idol of self", through "the other as opposed to self" and "the other separated from self" to "the other comparable to self". It follows that we must recognize the essence and communication logic of the Western views of China while holding firm in value judgment and decision-making with a view to boosting the influence and power of Chinese discourse. The analysis of the historical evolution logic of the Western views of China has profound implications including a prerequisite in support of China 's discourse power by further strengthening the hard power, a shift from development advantages to discourse power and a means of expanding the international discourse power by striving on just grounds, to our advantage and with restraint.
